Drink recipe
Sparkling Lemon–Mint Water
Fresh lemon and mint turn chilled sparkling water into a crisp, unsweetened drink that is ready in five minutes.

Ingredients
- 500 ml chilled unflavored sparkling water open just before pouring
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice from about 1 small lemon
- 8 fresh mint leaves plus sprigs for serving
- 1 cup ice cubes add just before serving
- 4 thin lemon wheels optional garnish
Instructions
- Wash the lemon and mint under cool running water. Juice the lemon and cut a few thin wheels for serving.
- Put the mint in a small pitcher and press it gently once or twice with a spoon to release its aroma; do not mash it into pieces.
- Add the lemon juice. Fill two glasses with ice, then divide the lemon-mint mixture between them.
- Open the sparkling water just before serving. Pour it slowly into each glass and stir once, gently, to keep as much carbonation as possible.
- Taste and dilute with more sparkling water if the lemon is too sharp. Garnish with lemon wheels and mint sprigs, then serve immediately.

Pairs Well With

Bright lemon and lively bubbles refresh the palate alongside the creamy, spiced sauce.
Thai Basil Chicken →Mint echoes the dish’s fresh herbs while the unsweetened citrus balances its salty, spicy finish.
Vegetable Biryani →A clean citrus note lifts the biryani’s warm aromatics without competing with them or adding sweetness.
Healthier Option & Substitutions
The base recipe has no added sugar. If the lemon tastes sharp, add more sparkling water before considering sweetener.
Use chilled still water for a softer version. The flavor remains fresh, but the drink will not have the same lift.
Use a few thin cucumber slices, or simply leave the mint out. Avoid dried mint, which can make the water gritty.
Replace lemon juice and wheels with the same amount of fresh lime for a sharper citrus profile.
Storage & Serving Advice
Storage
Best served immediately. For advance preparation, refrigerate the lemon-mint base without ice or sparkling water in a covered container for up to 24 hours; citrus peel can become bitter over time.
Serving
Chill the water and glasses first, add ice near serving time, and pour slowly down the side of each glass to preserve the bubbles.
