Cook This Meal

Ingredients

  • 8 mini pita or naan rounds
  • 1/2 cup thick pizza sauce
  • 1 cup low-moisture mozzarella shredded
  • 1/4 cup red bell pepper finely diced
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper finely diced
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • as needed olive-oil spray
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil torn, optional

Steps

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) if recommended. Check that each bread round fits flat in the basket.
  2. Spread each round with about 1 tablespoon thick sauce, leaving a narrow rim. Add a modest layer of mozzarella and finely diced peppers.
  3. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Place bites in one layer; do not stack. If toppings are very light, press them into the cheese so airflow does not lift them.
  4. Air fry for 4 to 7 minutes, checking early, until the bases are crisp and the cheese is fully melted and bubbling.
  5. Rest 2 minutes because the sauce and cheese will be very hot. Finish with basil and serve.
  6. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours and reheat until hot.

Why this recipe works

Thick sauce protects crispness

A thin layer of thick sauce adds flavor without soaking the bread.

Low-moisture cheese melts cleanly

It browns without releasing as much water.
